The documentary “ESTCube-2.X: Ten Years to the Stars” came to the big screens in February 2025. The premiere was held in Tallinn at Apollo Solaris cinema, where people could not only see the movie but also meet the director of the documentary and talk to the engineers of the ESTCube-2.
The event started with the opening words from the CEO of the Student Satellite, Katriin Kristmann. The speech of the Estonian minister of education, Kristina Kallas, followed. Right after that, we expressed gratitude to the biggest supporters of the ESTCube-2 project and handed out some special gifts. Finally, just before everyone could enjoy the documentary, the movie’s director, Kaur Kukk, gave a brief introduction of the work done.

The movie “ESTCube-2.X: Ten Years to the Stars” showed the spectacular 10-year journey of planning, building and sending the satellite to space. It demonstrated the story behind the 3 unit CubeSatellite with jokes, tense moments and lots of courage coming from the young developers of the ESTCube-2. The audience could enjoy the movie with the snacks and drinks provided by our sponsors.
After watching the movie, the guests had an opportunity to ask questions from the director Kaur Kukk, the ESTCube-2 project manager Hans Teras and the satellite engineer Janis Dalbins. The night didn’t end here, and everyone was welcome to join the afterparty at Apres Speakeasy bar There the people could enjoy the music played by Memorex Memories from the UK – their music was used throughout the movie!
We have also organized special sessions in Tallinn and Tartu Apollo cinemas in the second half of February. During the special session, people could take a look at the ESTCube-2 model and talk to Student Satellite members in addition to watching the movie.
The documentary “ESTCube-2.X: Ten Years to the Stars” can be watched through Apollo Kino’s educational programme by booking the session in advance.
